Jaewon Son
Research Scientist at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST)
Jaewon holds a master’s degree in International Development and Cooperation and was awarded a Green Talents Award by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) for sustainability research on water. She is currently working as a research scientist at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) and has diverse experience in development, by working at NGO, national research institutions, and international organizations including UNDP, and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). She has connected her water accessibility research to Internet access and broadened it to its impact on sustainability and the environment. She has been active in the internet governance community by working as a Committee Member of the Korea Internet Governance Forum (KrIGF), Capacity Building Lead of Youth4IG, and member of Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) Asia-Pacific Regional At-Large Organization (APRALO).
